Managing files on the server

When I log in to my account on the web server, and use the control
panel/file manager, I see that the entire web site seems to have been posted
into the Home folder... but when I access the site using FrontPage, I am
publishing everything to the public_html folder - which is where I first got
the web site from in order to have it on my computer (this is my church's
site which I am now updating, not one created by me).
www.goodshepherdmidland.org

So, what I'm saying is that all the files and folders are on the server at
least twice... once outside the public_html folder, and once inside it. I
think this happened when a person tried to update the site, but didn't
really know what they were doing. (There have been a couple of those.)

Is there any reason to keep those (old) copies of the web site pages? How do
I know which of the folders I need to keep, and which it is safe to get rid
of? Most of the folders are (old) duplicates of what's inside the
public_html folder, except for 2... one is called panel, and the other
stats. I assume I should keep those.

I am trying to find the answers to my questions by viewing the help
information on the server, but so far I haven't found what I'm looking for.

Also, I have been using ftp to update the web site... and had been doing so
for a while before I found out that could be why there are no FrontPage
extensions on the site. I'm pretty sure previous people also used ftp... the
site is very simple and doesn't seem to need FPSE in order to function. For
now, I will continue working the way I have been, as everything is working.

Thanks for any help.

You need to talk with your web host tech support regarding the correct folders to be used for
uploading, etc.
