Managing Non-Working Time : Admin Projects vs Enterprise Resource Pool

Simon

As I understand it, you can't automatically reschedule work around
non-working time unless you update the personal calendar in the ERP but
resources cannot update their own personal calendars so an administrator
would have to do this.

Is there a more efficient way of doing this?

Will PMs get notified is users update a shared Admin Project that is set up
for vacation schedules?

The only way to force Project Server to automatically reschedule project
task work around nonworking time, such as vacations, is to enter each
instance of nonworking time on each resource's calendar in the Enterprise
Resource Pool. If you enter the nonworking time in Administrative project,
it is easier to report on the nonworking time, but Project Server will not
automatically reschedule project work around the nonworking time.

If you elect to use the Enterprise Resource Pool for nonworking time, then
you might be interested in an application written by our company called Time
Away. This application adds a new page in PWA that allows each resource to
submit their own vacation time, have the vacation time approved by their
manager, and then the system automatically adds the nonworking time their
calendar in the Enterprise Resource Pool. Click on either hyperlink in my
signature block to contact our company about this application. Hope this
helps.
