Managing Programs in Project Server 2007

I quick question. I have multiple master projects in project server. For
reporting, I need to be able to identify the masters separately for other
projects( so I don't double count). Is there a field in server that
Identfiies projects with inserted subprojects? Or, do I need to create a
custom field specifically to identify a master project easily?

There is already a field called Project Type which exists in the Project
Center views - you could filter on this. However, double counting is already
avoided if you use the OLAP cubes.

Thanks for your help. Works great! I added a new view just for that. We're
just getting into reporting from the cubes, so we're in walking on new
ground.

Hi.

I tried this but my view doesn't return any of the Master projects. I even
limited all grouping / filtering to a single filter.
Project Type equals Master Project

What am I missing?

If I don't filter for it at all and I look at the content of the Project
Type field it has Master Project in it.

Thanks!

There's a trick you need to know to filter in the Project Type field. The
trick is that the data stored in the field is NUMERIC and not alphabetic.
Refer to the following blog for more information about filtering on the
Project Type field:

http://blogs.msdn.com/brismith/arch...t-center-views-filtering-client-v-server.aspx

Although the article shows you how to filter for Activity plans (Maintenance
Projects), you can extend the knowledge to filter on Master Projects. Hope
this helps.

Hi Dale,
Thank you so much! I am now downloading the SDK's I had been told about
previously and said I would get to it. :)

Just thought in case anyone else read this thread I would share a few
testing results on this topic.

Project Type 4 = Maintenance (Activities and Proposals)
Project Type 5 = Inserted Projects (sub projects)
Project Type 6 = Master Projects

I just tested numbers until I found the Master I needed for a meeting. :)

Thanks again Dale! Your support on this site is awesome!!!
