managing projects in project server

I am managing a very large project that is a full lifecyle project. In
otherwords, it has all phases, design, development, test, train, implement ,
suppor, maintain. Each one of these phase has its own PM and plan. If I were
to build one plan it would thousands of tasks. So instead there are 8
seperate plans with dependancies linked between plans. Without a "masterplan"
of milestones, how do I report progress and see progress in server.

Hello Bob,
You'll report progress and see progress as usual, with or without a
masterplan (Resource will fill in their Timesheets in PWA). You can create a
temporary masterplan to check all the relationships between the different
phases. Or you can save this masterplan as a mpp file, or even save it on
the server (If it's allowed by the Project Server Administrator). But don't
publish it (risk of assignment duplication)
