managing resources between multiple projects in project server 200

Hi,

Is there a way in Project server 2007 to select a resource from resource
pull, assign it to the certain task and later see if this resource is
overallocated because it is used for other project in different department...

For some reason project windows client does not show directly that this
resource is used for other projects, so I cannot use resource leveling
function to level it.

Hi,

Project Server 2007 does that automatically.
Look in the Resource Usage view of Project Pro.
If you opened all the projects where the resource is assigned to, you will
see all his/her assignments, and you will be able to level the workload.

Hi Ilya
If a resource is overallocated in the Resource Sheet view its name will
appear in red.
Also in the Resource Usage view for each resource you can see all the task
on which he is working and also list of Other projects he is allocated to.

Infact when you build a team of resources it is always advised to check its
availability by clicking on graphs in Project Professional.

Thanks,
Manmeet

This does not seems to work... at all...

I have created 2 projects independently (closing first and then working with
second project). In each one I have added the same resource for a task which
runs on same dates and has same duration.

Unless I open 2 projects at the same time in Proj. Prof. Resource Sheet does
not show that the resource is overallocated or that situation with allocation
has changed.

In a way this defeats the purpose of having the common resource pool in
project server because I cannot monitor changes in resource allocation in
resource pool, i.e. I don't know when my resource is allocated somewhere else.

Is there a way to solve this? There are 10-20 projects running all the time
at my company and no way to share testing and analytical resources. Why on
earth Proj. Server has common resource pool if I cannot monitor it level
resources in different projects automatically.

ilya,

When you are loggin on to Project Server with Project Pro, make sure that
the "Load Summary Resource Assignments" box in the Login dialog is checked
