Managing Users in a Restricted Access Web/Subsite

I created a subsite in order to password-protect certain information, and to
allow only certain users to access the subsite. Using the "Manage Users"
function, I created a user called "sample user" and gave this user a
password. When trying to access the subsite, this user name "sample user"
did not work. Looking back at Manage Users, I saw that this user was listed
as "IPSWJW0014ATL2\sample user" instead of just "sample user". If I enter
all of these characters, I can access the subsite. But it will not work by
only using the user name I created.

Does anyone know what I have done wrong? Any help would be appreciated.

Start by removing the space from your user name (not supported)
Delete the user sample user and try sample_user

Stefan: Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, this did not work either.
FrontPage still created a long string of numbers in front of my user name
and I cannot access the site unless I input all of those numbers.

Contact your host
That is the way that they have it set up w/ IPSWJW0014ATL2\ as part of your user name
