managing white space & footer

In the report; the Detail section will have alot of white space and the sum
data in the group's footer will be at the top of the following page when the
subreport also located in the footer is large enough to justify its own page.

If the subreport is small - they all fit nicely onto one page.

But if the subreport is larger - it sets up on the next page and pulls the
Sum data with it because it is of course all part the same group footer
section.

So I know the what & why - but can't figure out a work-around... and it is
really the fact that the Sum data is so far away from the Detail info that is
the most jarring aspect.

Selected the Grouping to be together and for the sections to shink/grow but
that hasn't changed this...

Am just wondering if there is a way to keep the Sum group footer info with
it's Detail section and then put the subreport into a different section below
the Sum footer section.... I haven't really played much with report
design....thnks for any advice..

Actually I found my own answer - I got a hint from other similar questions in
setting up a new mock header/footer but various attempts screwed up the
grouping/sorting of the overall report.....

so I was searching for a field that wouldn't affect grouping, and by
accident I simply repeated the same grouping field that report is now grouped
on....
NameField
NameField

the report had been grouping on the NameField and I entered it a second time
and made the footer available....then moved my subreport to this new second
NameField footer - and everything works great. The first NameField footer
has the Sum info from the Detail section and now stays right below the Detail
section - - while the second NameField footer has the subreport and if it is
large and requires its own page it does not drag the Sum info with it any
more.....and the grouping/sorting of the overall report was not affected....
