manual restoring of autosaved documents

1) Make available opening of "document restoring" pane in the task pane
and / or
2) indicate how to use "~$lename.doc" files to (half-)manually restore
autosaved word file
If not possible, why keeping those "~$lename.doc" files ?

The ~$lename.doc file is the "owner" file and does not contain any document
content. See “Description of how Word creates temporary filesâ€
http://support.microsoft.com/?kbid=211632. Ordinarily this file is created
when you open a document and deleted when you close the document. If Word
hangs or the system crashes, this and other temp files are not deleted, but
you can delete them manually. See
