Manual uninstall Office XP Pro?

Moving equipment. PC had Office XP Pro installed. Not sure of the source of
at this point but it asks for PRO.MSI when trying install or uninstall.
Purchased Office 2003 Standard Upgrade to get around this problem and get box
the up and user ready. I have installed, uninstalled, repair install Office
2003 standard several times. Each time I launch Outlook I get the prompted
for PRO.MSI. I can get rid of Office XP Pro.
I ran the Windows Install Cleanup Utility and selected Office XP Pro. Still
didn't fix problem.
Any suggestions?
Happy New Year,
Brian

How were you able to resolve this problem?? I have a similar problem; however
mine relates to having to uninstall Office XP Standard for Teachers and
Students -without CD- in favor of upgrading to the Office Professional 07. It
is only allowing me to use 07 in reduced mode, and it is defaulting to the
XP. My computer prompts me for a STDEDU.MSE file....

I have no idea where the discs are for XP; I have moved 4 times since then.
It will NOT allow me to uninstall without the disks.

I have, however, been able to un-install and re-install the 07, just to be
sure that it recognized the new version and I DID opt during installation to
have it over-ride previous versions, however that was ineffective.

I went into my program files and deleted all of my Office 10 program files
in desperation. Now when I open any of my documents, they open in microsoft
works or wordpad or something....not even the old XP Word. I can't use any
excel.

I need to be able to entirely uninstall the old XP and be able to use the
07!! please help!!

I never got around this. I did notice that the issue appeared connected to
the specific user. I created another user and used that login with the new
copy of Office
and moved on. Sorry I have no clear answer.

If you purchased an upgrade version, then at some point you will likely need
the old OfficeXP cd's.
ie if you have to format, or replace the hd you wont be able to install your
2007 upgrade without the old version cd
