MANUAL

OK, since the response I got for training was dismal does
Project 2003 come with a PDF owner's manual by chance?
One way or another I need to learn this thing and I am
not about to cough up hundreds of $ for 2-days schooling
from some leeching pinhead.

(a few of us may take exception to the "leeching pinhead" comment)

if you're really not willing to pay the money for project training (and i
personally think it is really worth every cent) then my suggestion would be
to get hold of "Special Edition Using Project 2003" published by QUE and
read it from cover to cover

Project, IMHO is unlike most ms products, it is not an intuitive program
that can be learnt by fiddling around with it - you need to have firm
understanding of the concepts and methodology of the program to successfully
use it.

Some "free" resources which you might like to look into can be found at
www.mvps.org/project - have a look through the FAQs
also
Mike Glen has written a good series of getting started lessons, these can be
found at
http://tinyurl.com/2xbhc
also
with 2003 you get the "Project Guide" which takes you through the basics of
setting up a project (its a toolbar if you can't see it when you open
Project)
and if you have a look at MS's site there's an "online course" on scheduling
http://office.microsoft.com/training/

Hope this helps
Cheers

I gotta tell you, I wish you were an expert in Security
and Encryption since in that newsgroup I get lazy MVPs
directing me to FAQ URLs. Anyway, your info will
definitely help me.
Look I am already taking a PMP Certification course, so
$pending more from what I am already spending will take
me for broke before I had an offer. I am being facetious
but you get the gist.
Another Q. Is there a radical difference between 2002 and
2003 Project? I found a 2002 book for $7 online. Thanks!

J

JulieD

to answer your q -
i would not consider that there is a "radical" difference between 2002 &
2003 ... - if you look at the "what's new" for Project 2003 you can see its
not that much ... so i would say that a 2002 book should be fine

In addition to JulieD's excellent references to training materials on
Microsoft Project 2003, you might also download the free training module
from Microsoft on the Microsoft Project 2002 Standard desktop application at
the following URL:

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pr...raining/prj02trn.mspx#XSLTsection122121120120

The materials are well done and will meet your budget requirements ($free).
There is very little difference between the 2002 and 2003 desktop
application. Hope this helps.

Like I said it before and I'll say it again I wish you
guys were the experts in Security & Encryption because
the MVPs there leave much to be desired!
Thanks guys!

I was poking around the MS site to find a 2003 courseware
and couldn't find one. Does it exist by chance? Thanks!

The courseware for Microsoft Project 2003 has not bee released yet, and when
it is released, I believe it will focus heavily on Project Server 2003
rather than on the desktop app. Until then, I would recommend that you use
the Project 2002 courseware for the desktop app to teach yourself what you
might want to know.

OK, thanks a lot!!!!!!!!!

I'd save the money on the PMP cert course and spend it on project training.
Talk about leaching pinheads.
And no, 2002 is almost the same.

I have some ideas on solving your problems. But, since they'd be
coming from a "leeching pinhead" AND former MVP, they probably
wouldn't help you anyway.
