Is there a way to manually edit a .mst file generated by
CIW, and still keep it 'valid'?
I built a .mst for an Office 2003 rollout. I am migrating
user profile settings for Outlook. One of the actions I
want to take is to add a standard AutoArchiving point, to
a place outside of the user profile. I have managed to
add an \Archive folder and place a new Unicode archive.pst
into it. I even found all of the settings to force
AutoArchive.
My issue is that I cannot change the location of the
default AutoArchive store. I have read about creating
the .PRF file for Outlook and altering it (the .prf).
However, these same .PRF settings are contained within
the .MST file if you open it in Notepad. When I go in and
add the settings, I can no longer use the .mst file.
(file corrupt or not associated)
I also want to make sure that their current personal
folders get Archived to the new folder, but I'm not sure
this is working yet.
How do I prevent this 'dis-association' from occurring? I
want to do it (change the .MST) this way because the CIW
allows me to preserve previous Outlook settings. Of
course, alternative ideas are welcome.
sorry for the wordiness, I'm trying to get details out.
