Manually Inserted Page Breaks in Word 2004

Colin Johnson

I was wondering if anyone knows of a way to modify the width of the manually
inserted Page Breaks in Word 2004 - they currently only span the width of
the printable area of the document (width of paper minus margins).

The behavior of manually inserted Page Breaks in Word v.X is different - the
manually inserted page breaks span the width of the paper instead, making
them easier to find.

Use Normal View. Normal View is specifically designed for editing, it makes
control characters easier to see.

Use Find or GoTo to locate page breaks.

We actually discourage the use of page breaks.

If you format your document properly, you shouldn't need page breaks. Once
your styles are correctly set up with Keep With Next and Keep Lines Together
as appropriate, Word will automatically paginate the document for you and
get it almost exactly correct.

That's what it's designed to do: using Page Breaks interferes with this and
actually prevents Word doing its job properly. As well as making the
maintenance problem you describe here for you.

Cheers
