Many Photos

Is there some quick way to make up a PPT that is all photos (jpeg's),
as in a *hundred*.

What I'm looking for is some way to import all the photos in a
directory directly into a PPT without having to paste them in,
one-by-one.

Does such a method exist?

Thanks!

Yup - there are several ways. All depends on what OS, what version of PPT
and whether you want to do it natively or using a tool. For some more
information, see this PPT FAQ entry:
BATCH IMPORT images into PowerPoint
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00050.htm

My preference is for the Image Importer Wizard. I am not associated with the
developer of the program - just a very satisfied customer. ;)

Hello,

PowerPoint 2000, 2002 and 2003 have a Photo Album feature that does exactly
this. For PowerPoint 2000 it's an add-in that needs to be downloaded, but
for PowerPoint 2002/2003 the feature is built in and available from "Insert
-> Pictures -> New Photo Album"

The PowerPoint 2000 add-in can be downloaded from:

http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=55D24B47-C828-4141-
A8DE-9A459C63DB1A&displaylang=en

If you (or anyone else reading this message) think that PowerPoint should
include additional features and options for bulk inserting of images
(without having to resort to VBA or add-ins), don't forget to send your
feedback (in YOUR OWN WORDS, please) to Microsoft at:

http://register.microsoft.com/mswish/suggestion.asp

It's VERY important that, for EACH wish, you describe in detail, WHY it is
important TO YOU that your product suggestion be implemented. A good wish
submssion includes WHAT scenario, work-flow, or end-result is blocked by
not having a specific feature, HOW MUCH time and effort ($$$) is spent
working around a specific limitation of the current product, etc. Remember
that Microsoft receives THOUSANDS of product suggestions every day and we
read each one but, in any given product development cycle, there are ONLY
sufficient resources to address the ones that are MOST IMPORTANT to our
customers so take the extra time to state your case as CLEARLY and
COMPLETELY as possible so that we can FEEL YOUR PAIN.

IMPORTANT: Each submission should be a single suggestion (not a list of
suggestions).

Super! Now two more questions...

(1) How do I "cascade" photo albums? ...title, group of pictures.
another title, group of pictures from another directory.

(2) My 85 year-old father is 2000 miles away, and has trouble
understanding directories, etc. Any way I can send him a floppy
which, upon insert, automatically installs the PPS viewer?

Thanks!

Or maybe there's a way to set up an autorun that executes a copy of
the viewer on the CD that points to a PPS show, also on the CD?

Here you will find links to Sonia Coleman's software package that does
this, as well as a manual method.

Yes that's what you'll need, because the Viewer won't fit on a floppy. See:

Yes, I'm figuring out Package 'n' Go. My apologies for my denseness.
P 'n' G will work great with my 85 year old father.

Pack and Go, when configured for one continuous show, seems
unescapable... can't get out of the show without the three-fingered
salute.

When configured for the user to select a section, seems to work just
fine.

Is this a known bug? (Win2K,SP3, PPT2003.)

Rather than Pack and Go, it is most likely the interaction between your
presentation and the PowerPoint 97 Viewer. Realize that Pack and Go uses
the old Viewer that doesn't support the feature that are new in PowerPoint
2002 and 2003. Are you able to open the PowerPoint 97 Viewer and then open
the presentation and right click and select End Show? I guess you aren't
able to press Escape to end the show, but have you tried it from various
slides in the presentation?

"Escape" doesn't work, but, as you suggest, right-click does open a
menu (even though no mouse pointer is visible prior to the right-click
:)

Thanks!

I don't know why Escape doesn't work. Am I correct in assuming that it
works in PowerPoint when you run the same show?
