MAPI client will not retain password in XP

We run Exch 2003 and Outlook 2002, on Windows XP and Windows 2000

When I set someone up with Mapi access on W2K, when I click "check name", I
get prompted for the username and password, and as long as the user logs
onto his laptop with the same username and password, he is never prompted
again.

Lately, we have decided to start using Windows XP Professional.

When I do the same thing, the user is ALWAYS prompted for his password
whenever he starts Outlook

I have tried the reg change described in Q290684 (among others) but to no
avail

Is this an XP thing or am I doing something wrong ?
