HI:

I installed Office 2007 Beta 2 last night on my WinXP system. The first
thing I tried was Outlook which first locked up in converting my settings
from Outlook 2003. Once I finally got it going I constantly got an error
popup about MAPI and CLR that the file couldn't be found.

This popup kept coming up no mater how many times I clicked it. Sometimes I
would have as many as 15 of these popups on the screen and I couldn't keep up.

Since I use Outlook all of the time in my business I had no choice but to
completely uninstall everything, run a registry cleaner and re-install Office
2003. A wasted 4 hours.

And what was the specific error you received? Without more information
there's no way of telling what the problem was.

You had a choice - and made the decision to install it. You should never
install beta software on mission critical systems and should be prepared to
deal with problems - ghosting (or using true image) for a backup makes beta
life much better.

Did you make a new profile? what addins do you have installed?

Thanks for the replies. I realized that I would potentially have problems so
I guess I really shouldn't have complained about the problem. I should have
written down the exact error also but it was 2 am and brain wasn't hitting on
all 8.

I more or less wanted to see what new features it held but I didn't expect
such a catastropic failure. I'll try again in a couple of days on a Virtual
PC session with a clean install.

I can't say I'm real happy with the cosmetic changes though. Are the skins
changeable?

I have Virtual Studio 2003 and Virtual Studio 2005 both installed on this
system as well as Small Business Accounting 2006 and the Beta SBA 2007 and
the CLR rang a bell as something probably related to .NET 2.x which is
installed also.

If I get the same errors on Virtual PC install I'll ring back on here.

Thanks

Edwin
