MAPI error during send as attachment

I have a user with Windows XPSP1, Office2003, Microsoft Outlook as Email
default.

In Word or Excel docs she gets MAPI error "operation failed" and "general
mail failure" when attempting to SendAs (attachment). This option was fine
until this week.

Can anyone suggest a remedy, as I've scoured the board and can only find
unresolved questions.
