MAPI error message when importing contacts

I was attempting to import a contact list which included
only name and email address from Excel into Outlook. I
have tried importing the file as an Excel file and also as
a .csv file and both have lead to the following error
message:

"An error occurred while importing or exporting and the
import/export was terminated. MAPI error OX80040201 was
reported. Please try to import/export again later."

Any ideas????
