MAPI key error when upgrading to Office 2003

I am trying to upgrade one pc from O2K to O2K3 in a corporate Windows domain
environment with no success. The OS is WinXP SP2. I am ony having this
problem with one pc so it is a local issue. When I try to upgrade I keep
getting an "access denied to

HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Setup\OptionalComponents\MAPI"
registry key.

I am logged in as Administrator locally and the MAPI key permissions for
administrator are "full control". I have done the basics such as trying to
remove O2K using the install cd as well as Add/Remove programs and I can't
even do that. I get this error just trying to do this too! This error keeps
displaying when I try to remove office or upgrade it. I have not seen this
before where you cannot even remove it!

Can't figure out why I can't access this MAPI registry key? I would like to
avoid having to reimage/reconfigure this pc for the user because of this one
issue so any good suggestions would be appreciated.

I have also tried to just remove Outlook 2K using the O2K cd with this same
error. I cannot do ANYTHING with O2K or O2K3. I have searched the Internet
but cannot finding any help.

Thanks in advance

I resolved this in case anyone was woindering what the issue was. I had to
set permissions higher up the registry tree and the install went fine.
