I am attempting to sync my Palm device (Treo 755p) with Outlook 2007. After
spending about three hours on the phone with the Palm support folks, we
discovered that when my system is restarted and I attempt to hotsync, I
receive this message after identifying my Outlook Profile:
"Mapi Spooler could not be started. MAPI 1.0 [000004C7]"
I've read through as many suggestions as I can find for this error message
and so far have tried these: (none of them work -- I receive the same Mapi
Spooler error message)
1. Delete my profile and then recreate, then restart system.
2. Locate mapisp32, rename and allow system to recreate (didn't do this
suggestion since when I search for any file named "mapisp*.*" on my system,
including hidden and system files, nothing can be found.
3. Renamed msmapi32.dll to msmapi32.old, then repaired my Microsoft
Ultimated Office Suite, which recreated the file. Tried to sync again -- same
error. Restarted the system -- same error.
4. Reviewed all add-ons for Outlook. Tried to sync again -- same error.
5. Uninstalled Palm Desktop, Hotsync, and Outlook 2007 Conduit applications,
restarted system, installed applications again, restarted system. Tried to
sync -- same error.
6. Verified that Outlook is the default handler for messages, address books,
calendar, notes.
I'm stuck. This worked perfectly on my old system; for the life of me I
can't get this to work now.

Dell D800
Windows XP Pro, SP2
Office Ultimate 2007
Treo 755p
Palm Desktop 4.1.4
Can somebody please help? I really really need to sync Outlook with my Treo.
And it really did work before. And now the Palm folks are pointing squarely
at Microsoft saying that the missing "mapi spooler" is a Windows issue.
