MAPI Store is Known but is not Available...

Hello,

I work in a Win2K server/Exchange 2000 environment. While away from the
office, I was investigating an idea that involved linking my Outlook 2000
contacts to Access. I got a little click-happy and clicked next on the Link
Exchange/Outlook Wizard before clearing the option to "store my MAPI profile
name with my linked table."

I'm not sure exactly what is involved in that process but now that I've
returned to the office, when I attempt to create a link with any folders in
Outlook I get the following error: "The MAPI store 'FolderName' is known but
is not available in the current profile. This can occur if you use a profile
that is designed for working offline from a server and try to link to a
folder or address book on the server. The wizard is unable to link to it."

Does anyone know of a way to correct this?

After prodding at it a little more, it seems that I can link to the Public
contacts folder and my own Outlook contacts folder if I choose "Outlook()"
from the Files of Type drop-down under the Link Express/Outlook Wizard. If I
choose "Exchange()," however, I receive the message described below.

I thought I had messed things up by creating a link to my offline contacts
folder while out of the office but it looks like I just chose the wrong file
type.

So, if I'm using the Outlook() file type to connect to both private and
Public folders, what is the Exchange() file type generally used for?

You're asking in the wrong place. The Web interface can be confusing -
the first alphabetical choice is microsoft.public.access, which is for
the database software Microsoft Access, not for "all questions".

Please repost in an Outlook newsgroup. They'll be more able to help
you there.
