MAPI unable to load msncon.dll

I just purchased Office 2003 Pro. I installed it. During
the installation I got an error 1919, which I fixed by
following instructions in the knowledge base. Uninstalled
and INstalled again, this time without error. But when I
start Outlook 2003, I still get a message and it refuses
to start up. This happened both BEFORE and AFTER the 1919
error was fixed. The error message that I get when I try
starting Outlook is: "Unable to open default email
folders. An unexpected error has occured. MAPI was unable
to load information service msncon.dll."
Please help. Thanks.

It sounds as though Outlook is trying to connect to an MSN mailbox but doesn't have the proper pieces to do that. Click the Mail icon in the Control Panel (In the User's group if you are using Windows XP). Then click the "Email Accounts" button to "View or change existing accounts" and remove any MSN account you find. You can also Add another mail account there if you need to.

If that doesn't fix the problem, post a follow-up message here.

Hey thanks for the post. I already figured it out before
your post. Here's what I did. I installed OUTLOOK
CONNECTOR FOR MSN that comes with MSN Explorer. Once I
did that, Outlook started working.

Thanks though.
