mapi32.dll file missing or corrupt

Hello,
I am trying to install office 2000 onto an XP home
operating system and keep getting an error message that
mapi32.dll is not found or corrupt. I found the file in
C:\windows\system32\mapi32.dll and tried replacing it
with the same file from my XP system disk. Didn't work.

Any suggestions how to get past this?

Thanks
Philip

Close Outlook. Rename the file to .old. Then look for and run fixmapi.exe.

I ran the fixmapi.exe and it repaired the problem with
the mapi32.dll but now an error message shows that says
file name mapi.dll is missing or corrupt. In this case
the file was mssing but fixmapi.exe doesn't fix the
problem.

any more suggestions?

Thanks
Philip
