mapinfo doesn't recognize Canadian provinces

I have a table of USA states and Canadian provinces in
column 1 and costs in column 2. When I create a North
American map and import the data, the provinces aren't
recognized. I put the full name in column 1, formatted
just like mapstats.xls says. Don't know what's wrong.

I can bring in Canada provinces as a separate table, but
when the provinces are mixed in with US states , it
doesn't work.
If I separate the tables by hand, the data comes in, but
the Canada provinces are shaded, and the US states are
dots.
Help!!
