Mapped Network Drive

I have a new laptop running Vista Business. I have Office Basic 2007 loaded
on it. I have a mapped network drive set to an IBM AS400. I cannot save an
Excel, Word or Outlook file to the drive. I receive an error "File not
Saved". The file is actually created, however, with no data. I can save a
PDF or Notepad file to the same drive from the same PC with no problem. I
have disabled my anti-virus and disabled offline files. Neither had any
effect. I was able to do this with a previous PC running Windows XP and
Office 2003. Any help would be appriciated.

Not sure, but the first thing that comes to mind is the new 4-character file
extension that Office 2007 uses by default (docx), which would be one
difference between, say, Word and Notepad.

Does the AS400 support 4-character file extensions? What happens if you save
as a different filename?
