Margin gallery in Word 2007

Kimmi

Hi

Is it possible to either amend or remove the items that appear in the Word
2007 margin gallery. Our company is in Europe using centimetres and our
standard margins are not inch or half inch and we think it would be too easy
for users to apply the incorrect margins to a document.

Thanks

As in most versions of Word, you can change the units in use. For Word 2007,
it's in Word Options, Advanced tab under Display.

However, regardless of the measurement displayed by a dialog, you can type
in whatever you want to use (inches, mm, cm, picas, points, etc.). So for
users who like to use inches for most of their work but are require to use
margins defined in cm, they can keep their default units in inches but when
they have to use an awkward margin equivalent (say 1.5 cm) by typing 1.5
cm - including the unit of measurement - in the dialog rather than the
tortuous 0.590 in.

If you are using centimeters, then set Word up to use this form of
measurement - Word Options > Advanced > Display > Show measurements in units
of 'Centimeters' and the margins dialog will show that type of unit.

If you want specific margin settings for your company documents, then
provide templates from which to create those documents wuith the required
margins pre-configured.
