Margin / Indent issues

I have marks in all for corners of every one of my Word documents. They look
some thing like these (top left) __| and (top right) |__ and same on
bottom of page etc... These appear to show your text height from the top or
bottom of the page as well as how far left and right your text is. These
appear on every page. It shows even in print preview.

These were not there before. I cannot find how to turn these off, so these
do not appear on any of my document views including print preview.

Can someone tell me whre I need to go in Word to turn these off?

Thank you in advance for your help!

They don't print.

Turn off your Japanese or Chinese capability in Windows.

It looks as though you can control them independently in Word2007, but
I've never tried that.

THANK YOU for your reply and advice!

(I have an old version: Word 2002)

This makes sense. I had to add Japanese to view a Shimano website. Can you
tell me "How" to turn this off in Windows? I have no idea..

Thanks again in advance for your time and insight!

Thanks for the info. I did find in the control pannel, under Regional and
Language Options, where I could turn off Japanese and Chinese language. This
did not remove them I even uninstalled and reinstalled Word. They are still
there.

Any other suggestions to remove these? I would be very greatful!

So if he puts the Asian languages back, turns off Text Boundaries, and
removes the Asian languages, they'll be gone?

In theory. Some "hard cases" have been reported here, though it's always
impossible to be sure that the users have actually performed all the
required steps.

What I don't understand is why so many people hate the corner markers!
They're somewhat less useful, but a lot less intrusive, than text
boundaries.

I will try the suggestions provided Suzanne and will report back my progress.

As to why I don't like the corner markers... I am trying to send out resumes
and cover letters and I felt others are seeing these markers. To me, It has
an unprofessional look to the document, especially since it is also visible
in print preview. However, I do understand that corner markers do not print.

FANTASTIC!!

Thank you Suzanne. The link you provided was spot on! The corner markers
have been removed.

I really appreciate both yours and Grammatim's time and your MS Word
expertise!

Since I always have text boundaries displayed (to me, trying to work without
them is like flying without a net), I always have the corner markers. Word
2007 does offer the option to have just those without the text boundaries; I
don't know whether I'd want them or not, but I can't imagine finding them
that objectionable.

You wouldn't send those items as Word documents, though, would you?
Anyone could alter them. And whether the corner marks show would
depend on the recipient's settings rather than yours, I'd expect.

In any case, whether recipients see corner markers or not depends on their
setup, not the sender's. I would see them because I always do.

grammatim was telling us:
grammatim nous racontait que :

boundaries.

And I don't understand how people can work without either of these guides on
the page!

My feeling exactly. I feel quite panicky when faced with a totally blank
page (except, of course, in Normal/Draft view, where I often work also).
