Marginal graphic paragraph style

let me know what it is, because my inspection of newsgroups didn't
yield anything better the first time around. ]

I want to create a paragraph style that will display a graphic of my
choosing in the left margin. The best illustration of this is found
in numerous mass-market how-to books such as computer textbooks that
highlight certain types of paragraph such as "beware of this feature"
type notes by putting a picture of, say, a crocodile, in the left
margin.

I know I can create one-off version of this manually with floating
picture inserts. But I want it as a style so I can just point at a
paragraph, set it to that style, and boom, it gets reformatted with
the graphic. Can this be done, and how?

Not without the use of a macro that will simply paste the graphic (or
autotext that contains the graphic). Styles don't store graphics unless you
make it a bullet.
