Using MS Word 2003. Win XP
Mark Index Entry - Within the Word document, I select the text "Susan
Smith", then (shift, alt, x). The Mark Index Entry dialog box appears with
"Susan Smith" in the Main entry.
PROBLEM: in the Main entry text box I can not change the text "Susan Smith"
to "Smith, Susan". I can add/remove characters - but I can't change the
text originally selected from the document.
Also, when I Mark the text the XE field appears but it is empty - no "Susan
Smith". The field looks like this:
{ XE "" } Any ideas?
Clue: I completed the index and entered it at the end of the document. And
the process worked up to this point. Then I removed the indexed entries at
the end of the document because I wanted to add additional terms to the
index. This, I believe, is when the problem started.
Thanks, Mark Flynn
