Marking TC codes in Footnotes & generating the TOC's

Hi All

I have a large document which has 3 table of contents in it. The first TOC
is generated for style headings and is working fine. The second and three
TOC is generated from TC codes in the document which is also working fine.

My problem is that I want to be able to put some TC codes in the footnotes
of the document and at the moment when I update the TOC's the entries I have
put in the footnotes are not being included in the TOC 2 and 3.

Any ideas how I can get this to work?

Thanking you in advance

Ailish

I could be wrong, but I think TOCs can pull only from the main document
layer; the footnotes are a different layer (just like headers/footers and
drawing objects, which also can't be seen by a TOC).

That's correct, footnotes are "invisible" to the TOC and Index generators.

As a workaround, drag the TC field out of the footnote and drop it next to
the corresponding footnote mark in the regular text. You'll have to turn on
display of hidden text to see the TC fields. After you've moved the TCs,
turn off hidden text and update the TOC again.
