Marking TOC

L

Les

I am manually marking a document with this type of
numbering and format. Article I
Definitions
I select the text but when I go to mark it the Mark Table
of Contents dialog box only picks up the Article I text.
I have a soft return after the I in Article I. I can
type in Definitions in the Mark Table of Contents after
Article I but what a pain. Is there anyway I can get
the whole text to be marked? Thankyou.

I would recommend creating a style for the Article I-type
headings; then the TOC would pick up the entire heading.

Soft return? A soft return in my terminology is what Word does when it wraps
a line. A hard return is a paragraph mark inserted using the Enter key. A
manual line break is a new line within the same paragraph forced by using
the Shift-Enter combination.

If you use Word's heading styles for things to go into your table of
contents (modifying the style to be formatted the way you want) you can
generate your TOC without marking anything.
