marks appear on my docs... HELP!

Greetings!

Well, for some reason, a bunch of marks now appear on my documents...
dots appear between words, squiggles apear whne I hit enter, and the
like...

Does anyone know hwy this is, and how to get rid of it?

I'm using a fully patched up version of Word 2000, if it matters...

I'd start by looking under

Menu: Tools > Options
"View" Tab,
"Formatting marks" .. er .. bit

and turn off anything you don't want.
