Markup showing in word form

I created a form in word (word 2003) , did not want markups showing,
protected it so only the person could fill in the form, and some times when
it is being completed markups are showing. Very frustrating. Went through all
the options recommended to not have markups showing - any resolutions you can
recommend would be most appreciated.
