Master and Sub-projects in Project Server 2003

I will be implementing Poject Server 2003 shortly for an engineering group
that already uses the Project 2003 clientside, without server. They use a
master project with dependent tasks that link from one sub report to another
(which is problematic without using project server). I have seen many
postings that indicate not to post a Master project to the server because of
the circular linking issues. What is the methodology to post projects with
dependent (linked) tasks across projects while avoiding the pitfals.
We are interested in any methodology that works and would like to abandon
the Master/sub-report structure it at all possible?

There have been a few posts in the last couple of months talking about ways
to link dates from a task in one project to a task in another project without
using master projects. I think the solution involved some kind of simple
macro but I don't remember the details. Search on something like "linking
tasks"... if I run across the post I will reply back here as well.

Of several ways to do this, I like to create a "temporary" master project,
wherein I insert the projects I want to link and create the links. Then I
close, saving only the actual projects, but not the master.

Usually, I use PWA Project Center to grooup the projects I want to link;
then I select the projects and click the icon to Open in Project. This
creates my temporary master project.
