Master Category List

I am using Outlook 2003 in a XP environment, I have a shared calendar in a
Public folder that everyone in my department can see. My permission level is
Owner. My question is: Can I edit the master list categories to have only
the catergories that I want others to use and delete all the default
categories? Will this affect their personal calendars?

No. Categories are specific to each user, regardless of which Folder they
are in. So if I change my Categories, and then eneter something in the
Public Folder, my Master Category list is available to me. Same goes for
each user - they always get their Master Category list.

No it will not effect their Categories, only yours if you adjust your Master
Category List. There is no Master Category list associated with that Public
Folder.

Another way that does something more like what you want is to use Colour
Label in the Public Folder as these are Folder Specific not user specific.
So if you as Owner change the Labels in that Calendar, ALL users will see
your new set of Labels.

I have a situation where a user is the owner of the public calendar but the
edit categories is grayed out. Is this an exchange level permission issue
and if so, what rights does the user have to have in order to change the
categories on that public calendar globally?
