Master Document alternative options

Like others of you, I've used master documents in earlier versions of Word
with some success. I see many cautions here against using masters. I have a
fairly huge document with many graphics that was a very workable book in
InDesign. Now, alas, I have to convert it back to Word. I know that the
file size of some individual chapters (with the graphics) will cause a single
large document to crash. Is there a way, other than master document, that I
can create sequential page numbering between sections? Any other suggestions?

You can use RD fields and macros to accomplish this. See

You can also link the child documents into a single, consolidated, document, via INCLUDETEXT or LINK fields.
