I created a large manual for our company in a
master/subdocument structure. Being a new reader of this
site, I have just learned of the problems inherent in the
master document structure. To date, I haven't had a
problem with this document, but am aware that eventually I
will. To that end, I want to convert the document back
into a single document.
I printed out John McGhie's article, How to recover a
Master Document. Since I have not had a problem with the
document thus far, is it necessary to follow all the steps
mentioned in the article (eg, create a new normal.dot
template, etc.), or can I copy and paste the contents of
the subdocuments (without the final paragraph mark) into a
new document and achieve the same results? If steps can be
skipped, which ones?
