Master Newsgroup List Question

In researching an issue I'm having with a specific server being slow
downloading headers. I'd like to completely delete and reset that server
from scratch. Aside from deleting the server in accounts, can I also get
rid of the initial download list of all the available newsgroups for
that server, and if so how?

They disappear all right when the account is removed but somehow are
being stored in the system, as when I add the account again to rebuild
it and go through setting it up, I'm not asked if I want to re- download
the available newsgroups and they appear again on the right side window
as I complete setting up the account like they were never gone.
Bottom line; can I clean out the account COMPLETELY and begin again from
scratch?
Thanks
Dudley

Thanks Diane, as you can see I'm still fooling around with this. :)
I installed Thunderbird today and none of the issues are there.
Entourage however continues to download at a snails pace.
Actually, since TB has a spell checker, mail program, and is a fairly
decent news reader, I'm seriously thinking of taking my Microsoft Office
Suite out of the system altogether. I do need WORD however as I need a
word processor installed. Can I drag Office to the trash and then do a
custom re-install of Office and just install WORD instead of the entire
thing? I believe that was possible in Windows if I remember right???
Also, if I can just re-install WORD, do I need anything else from the
Custom Office installation list such as dictionaries. (I only require
English) or will checking WORD alone with nothing else get me going with
WORD and the English checker??

Before you give up on Entourage as an email client give it a good test. It's
one of the best email applications around. Sorry I can't say the same for
it's newsreader capabilities.

You can do a custom install BUT Word uses the Entourage Address Book. The
installed applications take up very little space and updating could present
problems as the updater looks for all the applications to upgrade. Unless
you are really low on space, I would install the whole suite.

Thanks much. On the address book; I did a csv install in the Thunderbird
book and all is well there. it actually seems to be a decent mail and
news program so far at least.
I'll install the suite as you suggest and just not use the Entourage.
Take care, and thanks for taking an active interest in my issues.
