Master project is very slow on server

I have subprojects in a master project and when I save, open or close the
project down, it takes about 5 minutes to do!!! All projects are saved on the
server.

Is there any way of speeding it up or another way to work around this? This
is a question for both Project general questions and Project server really.

Unless you really need "hard" linkages (dependencies) between prohjects, why
don't you just use the PWA virtual master project? Just highlight the related
projects in Project Centre and press Open. All the projects will be opened
and it will appear as a master project.

Thanks for the feedback, I have one problem though, When I highlight the
projects I want and click Open on PWA, a message box appears and says
'Selected projects cannot be opened'. Any ideas as to why this is?

One reason for this, is that you're using one URL in your Project Server
Account, and using a different URL to call the PWA. For instance, you type
an IP address in your browser, but your Project Server account uses the
server Netbios name. With that said, if you're using 2002 version, upgrade
to 2003. If you're using 2003, upgrade to SP1 for performance upgrades and
eventually SP2 when it is re-released. Beyond that, the structure of your
plans and the linking strategies should be reviewed.
