Master Projects and PWA

We are in Project Pro 2003 Server SP1. I am the admin. We have allowed
saving but not publishing of master projects.

I have read in various other articles that when I save a master plan in Pro,
it shows up in PWA Project Center. However, none of our masters make it to
PWA. Is there a trick to that?

Also, I read where I can do a group select in Project Center to create a
temporary master plan. What are the exact steps I need to take, since I am
not having luck with that.

Thanks.

What steps are you following to create and save your master projects? Are
you seeing errors in the server's application Event Log? Do know that when
you view a master project in the Project Center page, and then click on the
master project's hyperlink, the system does not completely expand the master
project. All you will be able to see is a single line for each subproject.
Let us know.

Also, to create a master project through the Project Center, select the row
header for each project you want in the master project, and then click the
Open button. Hope this helps.

Thanks, Dale.

I added the master via Project 2003 Pro. I opened a blank project and then
inserted the subprojects. Linked, read only. I then saved the project to
the server. I did not get any error messages, and nothing showed in the
Event log. When I go to PWA , Admin, Clean up DB, I can see the master
projects listed there.

The behavior you describe in PWA is exactly what I am hoping for.

The subprojects to which you refer - are they enterprise projects or .mpp
files? If they are enterprise projects, what happens if you create the
master project using a slightly different name, insert each project
Read/Write, and then save and close the project? Can you see the master
project now? On a wild hunch, when you navigate to the Project Center page,
and then choose different views using the Choose A View selector, can you
see any of the master projects in any View? Let us know.

They are enterprise objects.

I did create a new master, inserted an entgerprise project with linking
checked, read/write selected. Still not showing up in project Center.

Navigating through the views did not make it show up.

I'm sorry, but I have absolutely no idea what is wrong. Perhaps someone
else has some ideas for you. Sorry.

The last time I tried this, the Master had to be published as project plan
only to get it to show up in Project Center, albeit with the already
weel-known restriction ot displaying the sub-projects. The "Vanilla" PMs on
our system must "publish" to get them into Project Center.

For reasons I have yet to discern, as an Administrator, my projects show
up in PC as soon as I save them!
