.mat file associativity

I don't use Microsoft Access, but Windows Vista forces all of my .mat files
to be associated with Microsoft Access. I use .mat files in Matlab. This file
type and .db files are the only types Vista won't allow me to reassociate
with other codes. Can someone help me with this, or tell me how to uninstall
Microsoft Access completely from my system? Thanks in advance for your help.
