Materials scheduling problems

M

Marcio

I want to be able to schedule a specific date for a
material cost to be inputed in my cashflow report.
Example: The material was bought in 02/05 but the invoice
in the cashflow is charged at 02/12.....

Marcio,
Try WorkAlerts for Microsoft Project. www.workalerts.com.
It has a built scheduler and it can read and write to a project with any
information you like. Including information that comes from another
application (e.g. an accounting application).

Hello Marcio,

You can create one or several milestone to schedule the dates of payment.
Then you assign a fixed cost to these milestones.
For example, I used to schedule several payments for a subcontracted task :
- 30% od the price two weeks after the start of the task
- 30% two months after the start
- 30% at the finish date
- 10% one month after the finish date

All these milestone were linked to the task by SS or FS links with a lag.

Hope this helps,

Costs are always tied to the tasks that generate them, whether they be
work, material, or fixed costs, and thus will hit your budget on the
dates the task is taking place. You can choose either the first date of
the task, the last date of the task, or prorated over the task's
duration as is appropriate. IMHO, Project's costing is an approximation
even at its best and should be interpretted as such. Such detailed
to-the-penny info as the date an invoice is paid is not really relevant
to the managing the overall project progress big picture and is more
appropriately tracked in your accounting system.
