mathematical symbols

I have Word 2000. There are some mathematical symbols I
would like to be able to type. I need to get to Microsoft
Equation 3.0 which is suppose to be accessible thru
Insert -> Object -> Object type. I can't see it. Is this
available on Word 2000? I have Word 2002 at work and am
able to access equation 3.0.
