Max file size for Excel?

Hi,
does anyone know if there is an absolute limit on the number of
records or a file size that Excel for Macintosh can handle? I'd like
to set up a spreadsheet with 30,000 x 15 cells.

Thanks,

That's easily handled in any version of XL since XL98. All XL
spreadsheets have 65,536 rows and 256 columns, even if you use fewer.

As far as File size, you can theoretically add worksheets to your
workbook/file until you run out of memory. As a practical matter, I've
found that once files get bigger than about 15-20 MB, the performance
drops off, regardless of the memory available.

You can find these, and other specifications by looking up
"Specifications" in XL Help.

Hi J,

Office 2004 offers considerable improvement over all other versions
(including Windows versions) of Excel in handling workbooks that contain
large numbers of rows.

I've tested workbooks that have over 250,000 rows (spread over several
worksheets) with up to 50,000 rows on any given sheet. This includes
conditional formatting and data validation on several columns of the
data within the rows.
