max message size outlook2007

Gary D

I have an XP machine running office 2003, and a VISTA machine running office
2007.
The back end is SBS2008 Domain. All mail size limits have been checked OK at
the exchange server (trust me !).

From the VISTA/Office2007 PC when I try to send a 60MB attachment I get the
message :

"the attachment size exceeds the allowable limit". This only happens on
this Vista/Office 2007 PC.
Everybody else, including me on my XP/Office2003 PC can send 60MB
attachments.

This problem occurs just adding the attachment filename, so appears to be
more of a Outlook restriction on the Vista/Outlook2007 PC. I am tearing
my hair out ! Please , any advice welcomed .

60 meg is a pretty hefty sized attachment. Isn't there another way to
achieve what you are trying to do? I think we're limited to approx 10 meg at
work.

Gary D

This is only internal, and we have a hefty SBS2008 server, I am the only one
having this problem and only on the VISTA/Outlook2007 setup, my
XP/Outlook2003 PC is fine ! Thanks for reply though.

FWIW, there is no limit imposed by Outlook 2007:

http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook/HP012319501033.aspx#4

I'm not aware of any default limits imposed by Vista, but I wonder if there
might be some other setting--perhaps a local policy setting--that's
preventing 60MB attachments from working.

Thanks herb but our standard SBS policy implementation is the same for
everybody in house here, only "MY" Outlook2007 (which happens to sit on

Have you loaded the policy editor on your machine to verify that there's
nothing hiding in a corner?

The other thing I might try -- just as an experiment -- would be to see if
Windows Mail has the same attachment limit as Outlook 2007 on your
computer.
