Max Records

Mary Fetsch

In my Access 2000 project, I have a form whose table has
over 80,000 records. When I open the form, I don't want
it to bring in all those records, so I set the forms's Max
Records property to 5000. So now I see only the first
5000 records when I open the form.

I presumed that when I applied a filter to this form that
it would return records from the 80000 records in the
form's table. However, the filter is only returning
records from the 5000 records brought in when the form
opened.

(I'm querying all who live in Chicago. There are 20000
records for people who live in Chicago, but I'm only
seeing 3500 records. When I set my Max Records property
to 90000, then I see all 20000 Chicago records.)

I'm relatively new to Access, and I was told that I should
be able to limit the number of records when I open my
form, but that I should be able to see all the records for
a filter, no matter what the number.
