Maxifs

I am in need of the logical progression of Sumifs, Countifs, and Averageifs.
I am surprised that Excel doesn't have Min and Max IFs. I would find these
extremely useful. Anyone have any suggestions?

Use array formulas (commit with ctrl-shift-Enter instead of Enter), viz:

=MIN(IF(...))

=MAX(IF(...))

You can use some array formulas** for these:

...........A..........B..........C
1........x...........o...........7
2........y...........z...........3
3........x...........a...........5

For MAX IF:

=MAX(IF(A1:A3="x",C1:C3)) = 7

For MAX IFs:

=MAX(IF((A1:A3="x")*(B1:B3="a"),C1:C3)) = 5

For MAX IFs just add additional arrays for each condition as needed.

Use the same syntax for MIN IF/IFs

** array formulas need to be entered using the key combination of
CTRL,SHIFT,ENTER (not just ENTER). Hold down both the CTRL key and the SHIFT
key then hit ENTER.
