Maximum connections to a shape

Is there a maximum number of connections to a shape limitation? I seem
to have run into a limit on the number of connections that will connect
to a givien shape.

Are you gluing regular connectors to your shapes, or are you doing the 2D,
Shape-To-Shape gluing?

Also, are your shapes groups with lots of sub-shapes?

I am using regular connectors (oned). No groups are being used.

The application is a kind of RM application. The relationships
(connections) between any two shapes may number in the hundreads
