I’m trying to get some information on Office Pro specifically PowerPoint.
I would like to know the maximum length allowed including the path for a
file?
Is it 256 characters including spaces?
Is this a limitation of the operating system or the office product it self?
Has the length changed with Windows 2003 server or the Office Pro 2003 or
Office Pro 12?
Does the maximum length include \\servername\driveletter\the rest of the
path and file name and extension?
I have all doc, xls and ppt stored on a Windows 2000 server. I’m starting to
see corruption in the PowerPoint presentation. I have checked the length of
the path including the server name and it reaches to 200 characters on some
directories.
I have checked the some setting and made suggested changes on fast save, max
undoes, etc but still see the problems.
The pc spec are p4 2.8gig, 768 mg of memory, and 40 gig free on the local
hard drive.
Thank you
John
