Maximum Size Limit for Attachments

I am having a problem sendling large attachments on Outlook. Is there a
maximum size that Outlook will handle? First, they take for ever to attach,
then they just sit in the Outbox trying to send and when they finally leave
the Outbox and appear to have gone by showing up in the Sent box, the
recipient doesn't receive them.

Attachment size limits can be set both on the sender side and recipient
side. Though you may be able to send say attachments as large at 5mb the
recipient may be only to receive 1mb.

First, you want to ensure that both your ISP and the recipient's ISP support
attachments of that particular size. Your ISP could restrict the sending of
emails that are larger than a certain size. Contact your ISP and ask them
what their limitations are for outgoing email size. Also have your
recipient contact their ISP and ask them what limitations they may have on
incoming email size.

Do you have antivirus software? Most antivirus applications such as Norton
and Macafee are configured by default to scan all emails coming into and
going out of your computer. While a nice feature to have (when it works)
this can also increase the time it takes to send or receive emails.
Disabling this particular feature will NOT make you wide open to viruses, it
is only a second layer of protection that can be safely disabled under most
circumstances. Consult your software documentation or its Help application
for more information.

If it is taking a long time to even attach the email to the message, it
could be that the file is exceedingly large. How big is the file you're
trying to attach? And also, what is your internet connection speed
(dial-up, cable, DSL)?

Thanks for the replies. My ISP (verizon) says it's not at their end and we
tested that by sending the same email with attachments directly from their
server instead of using Outlook to our account on their server without a
problem.

I shut off the outgoing scan option in my Norton antivirus. The file is
large (20482K) and I am using DSL.
