Maximum table size Word 2007 or greater can report off of?

Hello

Microsoft Word using interop can produce some types reports off of SQL
Server that SQL Server Reporting Services 2005 rdlc can't produce. The
question is what is the maximum size of SQL Server table that Microsoft Word
can produce a report off of?

Since you don't go into any detail it's difficult to know how to interpret your
question. Certainly, the number of columns a Word table can contain is limited
(63).

Theoretically, the number of rows is unlimited. However, the practical side is
a question of how well Word's page layout engine can cope. If the table is
created as a Word 97 table (static column widths) then Word can handle more. If
you break the table up (so that Word sees an end) you can get a lot more out of
it.

But for truly displaying/printing long tables I think it would make a lot more
sense to use Excel.

And FWIW I wouldn't use Interop at all these days for such a project. I'd write
the data to a file in the OpenXML file format. That would be loads faster to
write and can be done server-side without having to install or run an Office
application. (Note that this doesn't affect Word's page layout engine getting
into problems paginating extremely long tables.)
